Our Role

The Welsh Aesthetic and Cosmetic Society has been established to provide an educational and best practice forum for practitioner professionals delivering aesthetic and cosmetic services to the people of Wales. With a variety of educational resources available to members including biannual conferences, WACS has a central role in improving the standards of practice for the industry and its patients.

As a not for profit members organisation WACS has an elected Executive Board covering all aspects of aesthetic and cosmetic medicine. This enables the organisation to consider any practice related issue.


Jane Laferla

Jane Laferla

Board Member


Jane Laferla is a Registered Nurse and Independent Nurse Prescriber specialising in aesthetic medicine since 2007. Aside from a busy clinical aesthetic practice in Cardiff, Jane is a national clinical trainer for Schuco International (London) and the Lead Nurse for Wales for the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses. As an approved NMC mentor and qualified educator Jane offers training, mentorship and clinical supervision to practitioners new to the aesthetic speciality and for Level 7 certificate in Aesthetic Practice. Jane is a registered member of the ACE complications group.

Sara Jones

Sara Jones

Following an NHS career spanning over 35 years, Sara has brought her passion and expertise in quality governance and nurse leadership to her Aesthetics Clinic. Sara has worked in a number of senior clinical and management roles across the NHS and Government. As a keynote speaker at UK Wide Conferences, Sara shares her experience developing Quality Improvement Assurance Framework with a focus on positive patient experience.

She currently works full-time as a Clinical Director, Management Consultant & Coach. She also joined the BACN Board as an Adviser earlier this year. As a graduate of the NHS Executive Leadership programme, obtaining MSc from University Wales College of Medicine/Cardiff University and graduate of Harvard Kennedy Business School Executive Leadership Programme Sara hopes her previous NHS Board experience will enable her to make a positive contribution to the leadership of WACS.

Sophie Riddell

Sophie Riddell

Sophie’s interest in aesthetics and dermatology began in 2004 when she completed a pharmaceutical Masters specializing in dermatological disease and its effect on quality of life. This research led to multiple publications and presentations at national and international meetings, including the International Quality and Safety in Healthcare forum.

After becoming an independent prescriber in 2009 she continued to work as a specialist clinical pharmacist prescriber within the NHS as well as pursuing experience in Non-Surgical cosmetic procedures, training alongside surgeons and specialist nurses in this field. Being an advocate of the importance of anatomical knowledge in aiding safe aesthetic practice, Sophie has gained extensive training in the management and prevention of dermal filler complications, facial profile restoration and rejuvenation treatments.

Jeremy Isaac

Jeremy Isaac

Jeremy Isaac has been a principal dentist for over twenty years and has a special interest in aesthetic, cosmetic and implant dentistry, along with facial rejuvenation. He qualified from University College Hospital, London in 1982 and acquired further qualifications following extensive post graduate study.

Jeremy has a passion for cosmetic dentistry, is a member of numerous dental associations and is involved in continual professional development. He is also a certified Cerec trainer and is regularly invited to instruct and lecture at conferences, becoming a mentor to many of his fellow dental professionals.

Nicola Rylett

Nicola Rylett

Board Member


With over twenty years’ experience working in the science, technology and medical education industries, Nicola Rylett is a senior sales, marketing and communications executive who has held both Regional and National Director roles with some of the UK’s most prestigious organisations. She has a proven track record in building effective and efficient organisations that focus on their engagement with members and wider stakeholders.

Nicola has previously worked at member organisations such as the Institute of Physic Publishing, the Society for Endocrinology and the BMJ, part of the British Medical Association providing strategic direction for a number of membership resources and services.

Now in a pivotal leadership role for the WACS Nicola is fundamental in the setting up and development programme of the organisation, including all day to day operational matters.

WACS is a representative group for everyone in Wales interested in aesthetic and cosmetic medicine. Whether you work in the medical and healthcare sector, in local government, as an independent business/ practitioner in the aesthetic and cosmetic industry as an independent business/ practitioner, or you are a patient, WACS is here to support you.

Taking a multidisciplinary approach, the society aims to support everyone: nurses, dentists, GPs, cosmetic doctors, pharmacists, and surgeons.
